Message From the President

By Charlie Weintraub, Staten Island Chapter President

Where have the days of summer gone? I have been very busy at work, organizing the chapter’s affairs, and can’t believe the football season is in full swing; let’s go, Jets!

I was happy to meet so many of you at our Sales Tax Seminar, which was on Sept. 25, at the East Shore Inn. Anthony Maltese helped arrange for Stewart Buxbaum to speak on various current topics and activities of the state.

Our last seminar, on Sept. 4, on Electronic Filing was informative and well attended. Barbara Sandak, of DelRey & Company, did a great job organizing this event. Thanks, Barbara!

Please remember that the following events have been scheduled:

Educational Seminars:

All-Day Tax Seminar: Nov. 8 at College of Staten Island, chair Richard Wismer
Ethics & Officers Visitation: Nov. 18 at Bocelli’s Restaurant, chair Rosemarie Barnickel

Auditing Standards and New Pronouncements: Jan. 6, 2004, place to be determined, chair Curt Philpazak
Empire Zone: May 13, 2004, place to be determined, chair Charles Weintraub

Social Events:

Bowl-a-thon: Nov. 1, at Rab’s Country Lanes, chaired by Jerry LoVerde
Christmas Party: Dec. 9, at Bocelli’s Restaurant, chaired by Charles Weintraub
Installation Dinner: Date and place to be determined, chaired by Charles Weintraub

As you can see from the above, we have a full calendar and we are always looking for new faces and assistance. If you are interested, please e-mail me at charles@millerslaunch.com or call me at 718-227-7871.

Hoping everyone enjoys the upcoming events until next time.
