September 1999 FAE Conferences Provide Industry Updates and Tax and Valuation Strategies FAE's November conferences feature updates on specialized industries and current practice areas including business valuation and tax planning. The Annual Tax Conference will take place November 1 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City and again on November 9 at the Holiday Inn--Rochester Airport in Rochester. Participants will receive updates on federal, state, and local developments that will affect taxpayers in New York state, as well as new strategies for estate planning and charitable giving. The co-chairs are Avery Neumark of Rosen Seymour Shapss Martin & Co. LLP and Steven Goodman of Goodman & Mizrach CPAs PC; the NYSSCPA Tax Division Executive Committee is the sponsor. FAE's Investment Partnerships Conference, to take place November 4 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, will cover the recent developments affecting this specialty. Conference chair Gerald Ranzal of Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP explained the conference's scope. "The view of investment partnerships as playthings of the rich has moved Congress to the brink of legislation," he said. "This year's conference has been expanded to encompass information about innovative financial products as well as investment partnerships." The conference features keynote speaker Honorable James Leach, Chairman of the U.S. House Banking Committee. The NYSSCPA Partnerships Committee is the sponsor. The Apparel and Textile Conference will take place November 8 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City. Participants will get an update on issues affecting the industry including the impact of the Euro, using the Internet and e-commerce to increase business, and vendor payment optimization. FAE's Litigation and Business Valuation Conference returns on November 15 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City. The conference will cover topics such as calculating profit loss, malpractice cases, and valuation discounts and premiums. The conference co-chairs are David Daily, own account, and Glenn Pomerantz of BDO Seidman LLP; the NYSSCPA Litigation Services Committee is the sponsor. The half-day Restaurant and Hospitality Conference, to take place on November 16 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City, offers helpful updates for CPAs with restaurant clients and other professionals interested in the restaurant industry. The NYSSCPA Hospitality Committee is the sponsor. "This year we have some great speakers on some very current and hot topics--unions, restaurant technology trends, sexual harassment, and options for financing," said Conference Chair Adam Weissenberg of Deloitte & Touche LLP. FAE's Emerging Technologies Conference will take place November 22 and 23 at the New York Hilton Hotel and Towers in New York City. Participants may choose from a one- or two-day format to find out about new technological innovations that will change the way they run their practices and serve their clients.
