September 1999 Minority Career Fair Connects Employers and Candidates Accounting firms and other employers can meet prospective job candidates from diverse ethnic backgrounds at the annual career fair sponsored by the NYSSCPA Minority Group Recruitment and Equal Opportunity Committee. This year's event will take place on Friday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Society's offices at 530 Fifth Avenue, 5th Floor (between 44th and 45th streets) in New York City. Career fair attendees range from college accounting students to experienced CPAs looking for a change. Participating employers have the opportunity to distribute their firm's or company's promotional material, collect resumes, and briefly meet with job candidates. "The fair is a win-win situation for employers and prospective employees," Committee Chair Alex Ampadu said. "Employers get to meet a diverse group of job candidates, and prospective employees can network with numerous CPA firms all in one day." To participate as an employer sponsor, call Sanjay Paranandi at (212) 719-8364 for more information. A suggested donation of $200 helps to offset event costs. Students and others interested in registering for the career fair should e-mail their names to sparanandi@nysscpa.org. Job candidates may attend free. * |
