Golf Outing Draws Crowd and Helps Accounting Students

By Malina Farstley

Over 130 bankers and CPAs attended the NYSSCPA Cooperation with Bankers and Other Credit Grantors Committee's annual Golf and Tennis Classic, held on July 26 at the Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, New York. The event helps support the Society's Excellence in Accounting Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to needy college accounting students.

Chaired by Bruce Gomberg, the event started with a pre-tournament brunch, and a cocktail reception and awards dinner followed the day of golf and tennis. All participants received complimentary jackets with the NYSSCPA logo and a raffle ticket eligible to win one of many prizes.

The Society thanks the 22 accounting firms and banks that sponsored tees and greens, as well as Chase Manhattan Bank, which donated golf balls, and European American Bank, which supplied duffel bags as gifts.

The committee, chaired by Steven M. Rosenberg, has sponsored the tournament since 1991 to foster relations between the accounting and credit-granting communities. Many of the Society's chapters hold similar events in locations across the state. *
