Primedia President and Time Editor Headline Publishing Conference

By Lori Pendleton

Publishing/Internet FAE's 15th annual Publishing and New Media Conference will feature keynote speaker Charlie McCurdy, president of Primedia Inc., and Norman Pearlstine, editor-in-chief of Time Inc. McCurdy will explain strategic options created by the electronic age, and Pearlstine will provide insights into electronic publishing. The conference will take place at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City on October 18.

"This year's program is a stellar lineup of highly talented individuals covering the most important topics in publishing and electronic commerce," said conference chair Richard H. Kravitz of Aspen Publishers Inc.

Other topics include the security and taxation issues surrounding e-commerce as well as recent merger and acquisition trends arising from the Internet explosion. Speakers from The New York Times and the Hearst Corporation will shed light on the circulation, fulfillment, and distribution issues they regularly confront. In addition, representatives from the Association of American Publishers will discuss a new initiative called "Get caught reading."

The conference qualifies for eight CPE credits and should be of interest to advisors, consultants, auditors, and executives in publishing. The NYSSCPA Publishing and Printing Committee is the sponsor.

See the course listing on page 24 for presentation details. For more information or to register, visit www.nysscpa.org, or call (212) 719-8470 or (800) 537-3635. *
