Website FAQs

FAQs, cyberspeak for frequently asked questions, is a feature of The Trusted Professional that answers common questions about www.nysscpa.org. Members who have questions or suggestions about the website can post inquiries and comments by clicking on the Technical Problem and Website Suggestion links at the bottom of the home page.

The following are recent inquiries posed to NYSSCPA.ORG website editors:

Under the Find it Fast section of the page, none of the "Go" keys seem to be active.

There are two possible explanations. You may be working with an older version of either Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer (version 3.0 or older for Netscape and 3.5 or older for Internet Explorer) which do not support Javascript, the language Find it Fast uses. Try going to either www.microsoft.com or www.netscape.com and updating to the latest version.

I would like to send e-mail to the author of an online article, but I do not know her e-mail address. Is it possible to find the e-mail address on the website?

Sending e-mail from the website is quite easy. Simply click directly on the author's name and an e-mail screen will automatically pop up for you to compose your message. The address of the author will already appear in the "to" section of the box.

I visited your website a while ago and found a section on the Code of Professional Conduct. I would like to revisit that section, but haven't been able to find it. Where is it?

Your question is quite timely because nysscpa.org staff members recently updated the Code of Conduct section. You can access it through the Find it Fast menu on the home page; click on Professional Library. The Code of Conduct is among the choices in the library.

Are the Society's bylaws posted on the site?

The NYSSCPA bylaws recently were posted on the site and you can access them through the Find it Fast menu. Click on About the Society to display its sub-menu, then select NYSSCPA Bylaws. This will bring you directly to the bylaws, which include all revisions through April 1999.

For your information, you can view the entire text of the bylaws by clicking on the "click here to view all the bylaws" link . If you wish to view only a particular section, you can click on that section using the article index. It is important to keep this in mind if you wish to print a particular section of the bylaws, but not the entire bylaws text. If you don't select a section before printing, you will wind up printing the entire text of the bylaws.

I don't have a question. I am a general practice lawyer who ran a search on a tax issue relating to reasonable compensation for S Corp. owners. Your site is great. It gave me helpful information in two articles that came up on the search site. Thanks!

Thank you! The website staff is happy to hear that the site was useful in your search. We are constantly updating the site in order to make it even more helpful to members. We are always happy to hear your suggestions and comments. *
