NYSSCPA Leaders Take Office

The NYSSCPA officers for the 1999-2000 year, beginning June 1, are as follows:

President-Elect P. Gerard Sokolski recently has served as vice president for chapter operations, a member of the Executive Committee and the board of directors, chair of the Chapter Relations Committee, and a member of the Annual Conference Committee. He is also the chair of the Task Force Committee on the Annual Conference and a member of the Finance Committee, Taxation of Individuals Committee, and AICPA Council. Sokolski has been involved at the chapter level as a Rochester representative, president-elect, president, vice president, and treasurer. He holds the rank of commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, retired, is a member of the Accounting Advisory Board of St. John Fisher College and a member and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Rochester, and is on the board of trustees of the Hillside Children's Foundation. He is also chair of the Starters/Announcers Committee for the Lady's Professional Golf Association Tour (LPGA) Wegmans Rochester International, a golf tournament whose proceeds benefit disabled children's charities in the Rochester area. Sokolski is a tax partner with Mengel, Metzger, Barr & Co. LLP in Rochester, N.Y.

Vice President Frank J. Aquilino recently has served as the Staten Island representative on the board of directors, chair of the Audit Committee, a member of the Chapter Relations Committee and Annual Conference Task Force Committee, and a government relations director. He has served as a member of the Tax Education Committee, Members in the Field of Education Committee, Education in Colleges and Universities Committee, and Accounting and Auditing Committee for the Staten Island Chapter. Aquilino is a member of the Tax Division of the AICPA, the New Jersey State Society of CPAs (NJSSCPA), and the American Accounting Association (AAA). He is a professor at Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J.

Vice President Nadine Gordon Lee recently has served on the board of directors and the General Committee on Public Relations. She has served on the Tax Division/Executive Committee, Pension and Profit Sharing Plans Committee, and Fiduciary Accounting Committee and has served as chair of the Estate Planning Committee. She is on the Development Committee of Cancer Care and the board of the Estate Planning Council of New York City and is a member of the AICPA. Lee is managing director of U.S. Trust Company of N.Y.

Vice President Nancy Newman-Limata recently has served as a member of the FAE board of trustees, Annual Conference Committee, General Committee on Accounting and Auditing, and Committee on Committee Operations. She has served as chair of the Cooperation with Financial Media Committee and the Financing and Leasing Companies Committee. Newman-Limata is a member of the General Committee on Public Relations, Advancement of Women in the Accounting Profession, Auditing Standards and Procedures, Advisory Committee on Appointments, and Membership Task Force committees. She was also a New York state representative on the AICPA Council from 1996 to 1998. She is treasurer of the Girl Scout Council of southwestern Connecticut. Newman-Limata is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Stamford, Conn.

Vice President Harold F. Soshnick recently has served as chair of the Tax Division/Executive Committee and a member of the Interstate Taxation Committee and the Committee on Committee Operations. He also has served as a member of the New York State, Municipal, and Local Taxation Committee and the Partnerships Committee. Soshnick is chair of the Joint Committee of the New York State Bar and a member of the New York City Department of Finance Commissioner's Advisory Panel, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Commissioner's Advisory Panel, and the Accounting Alumni Advisory Board of Queens College of the City University of New York. He is partner-in-charge of the New York State and City Tax Practice for the New York metro area, a partner in KPMG's state and local tax practice in New York, N.Y.

Treasurer Ronald Benjamin recently has served as vice president of the board of directors and a member of the Executive Committee and the Committee on Committee Operations. He also has served as chair of the Exempt Organizations Committee and the Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee and as a member of the Health Care Committee. Benjamin is vice chair/treasurer of the Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Bronx, N.Y., and a board member of the New York State Health Care Trustees. He is partner-in-charge, Nonprofit Organizations Practice, with Mitchell & Titus LLP in New York, N.Y.

Secretary Jo Ann Golden recently has served as secretary of the board of directors and the Executive Committee, a government relations director, chair of the Minority Group Recruitment and Equal Opportunity Committee, and a member of the Finance Committee and the General Committee on Public Relations. She also has served as a Utica chapter liaison for Educational Career Day and Utica Chapter Public Relations chair. Golden is president of the board of trustees for the Utica Public Library and chair of the Annual Fund for Utica. She is partner-in-charge of Jo Ann Golden, CPA PC, in Herkimer, N.Y. *
