FAE's August Conferences Cover Diverse Specialties

The Foundation for Accounting Education's August conferences feature programs in a variety of specialized industries, as well as tax planning for individuals and businesses.

The Closely Held and S Corporations Conference will take place August 3 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City. Participants will get an update on the recent tax developments affecting these complex business entities. The conference chair is Ira Fox of Faber & Fox LLP. The NYSSCPA Closely Held and S Corporations Committee is the sponsor.

The 1999 Buffalo Symposium will take place August 4­5 at Daemen College in Buffalo. Participants will examine current trends and topics specifically relevant to western New York and pay $35 for every two-hour session they attend. Robert Colson is the chair.

FAE also will offer two presentations of its Health Care Conference, August 5 at the Holiday Inn Airport Hotel in Rochester and August 11 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City. The conference will cover unique challenges faced by hospitals, insurance companies, and other health care providers. Eric S. Holzberg of American Express Tax and Business Services of New York and Diane S. Steiner, own account, are the chairs. The NYSSCPA Health Care Committee is the sponsor.

The Construction Contractors Accounting, Consulting, and Taxation Conference will take place August 12 at the Holiday Inn Airport Hotel in Rochester and August 26 at the W Hotel in New York City. During this conference, participants will get an update on recent developments in the construction industry. Ronald J. Eagar of Grassi & Co. CPAs PC and Richard A. Romer of Romer & Castiglia LLP are the chairs.
The NYSSCPA Construction Contractors Committee is the sponsor.

FAE's Employee Benefits Conference will take place August 17 at the Holiday Inn Airport Hotel in Rochester and August 25 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City. It will update participants on recent developments and tax issues companies face when developing, implementing, and managing employee benefit plans. Michael D. Schulman of Schulman & Co. is the conference chair. The NYSSCPA Employee Benefits Committee is the sponsor.

The Elder Care Planning Conference, to take place August 18 at 42 West 44th Street in New York City, examines the issues eldercare clients must confront and the guidance professionals can provide. Michael D. Schulman of Schulman & Co. and Theodore J. Sarenski of Dermody Burke & Brown PC are the chairs. The NYSSCPA Personal Financial Planning Committee is the sponsor.

Another conference for tax practitioners is FAE's Tax Planning for Individuals Conference, which takes place August 24 at the New York Hilton Hotel and Towers in New York City. Participants will get tax planning ideas and insights into new planning opportunities for their individual clients. Steven S. Goodman of Goodman & Mizrach CPAs PC, Alex K. Salomon of Salomon & Co. CPAs PC, and Israel Keller of Oram Yelon Bernstein PC are the chairs. The NYSSCPA Taxation of Individuals Committee is the sponsor.
