CPA Spotlight - Diane Womack


Member's Accomplishments Recognized

The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women recently presented its Achievers Award in Business to Diane L. Womack for her professional and community service accomplishments. The organization also acknowledged Womack's ability to balance her career success with a strong family life.

Womack is a partner at Margolin Winer & Evens LLP. She joined the NYSSCPA in 1985 and actively participates in committees at both the state and chapter levels. She currently serves as chair of the Advancement of Women in the Accounting Profession Committee; as a member of the General Committee on Members in Public Practice, the Litigation Support Committee, and the advisory board of Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession; and as vice chair of the Nassau Chapter's Litigation Support Services Committee. Previously, she chaired the Society's Minority Group Recruitment and Equal Opportunity Committee.

Womack's community involvement includes acting as chair of her church scholarship committee. She also coordinates educational trips to area museums and historical sites for the children of the church. *

Ruth A. Sattig Betz, own account, and Karen J. Tenenbaum, of Karen Tenenbaum PC, took part in an IRS Taxpayer Problem Solving Day to provide assistance to taxpayers with tax questions, particularly with collection issues. Sattig Betz also won reelection as executive vice president of the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce.

Tenenbaum received a leadership award from the Nassau County School to Career Partnership, Partnership for Change in connection with her involvement in Commerce Plaza and the Children's Business Center. The New York Times recognized her in an article entitled "Opening the World of Business to Children" for her commitment to Commerce Plaza.

Thomas J. Volpe, of Interpublic Group of Companies Inc., was elected chair of the board of trustees at
St. Francis College.

Philip Lawrence Wiggle delivered the keynote address at an annual award event for Corning Glass. He also spoke to the Coastal Chapter of the South Carolina Association of CPAs about reducing stress. *
