April 1999 Issue Society Announces Award Winners The NYSSCPA will honor the following Society award winners at its annual dinner in May: Paul Rubenstein (Suffolk), of Holtz Rubenstein & Co. LLP, will receive the Arthur J. Dixon Public Service Award for his community work; Marilyn A. Pendergast (Northeast), of Urbach Kahn & Werlin PC, will receive the Distinguished Service Award for her contributions to the profession; Irene N. McCarthy (Staten Island), of Saint John's University, will receive the Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award; and Sharon Sabba Fierstein (Nassau), of PW Funding Inc., will receive the award for Outstanding CPA in Industry Award. The Society also will present Special Recognition Awards for years of dedication to the profession to Seymour Heinberg, of Edward Isaacs & Co. CPAs LLP, and to George Mandel (Westchester), of National Retirement Planning. Awards Committee Chair Barry B. Seidel (Nassau) said the awards program allows Society leadership to recognize colleagues who exemplify the best of the CPA profession. "While the committee had a spirited discussion over the nominees proposed, we felt that these winners not only showed a history of continuing Society service but also set an example for our younger members," Seidel said. * |
