Society Committees Host N.Y. and N.J. Charities Bureau Representatives
The NYSSCPA Exempt Organizations and Not-for-Profit Organizations committees cosponsored a joint meeting of their members on February 17 that featured Karin Goldman, assistant attorney general of the New York state charities bureau, and Anne Marie Taggart, supervisor of the New Jersey charities registration bureau.
The speakers addressed charities registration issues in their respective states.
Spearheaded by Marie Arrigo (Westchester), chair of the Exempt Organizations Committee, and Michael L. McNee (Westchester), chair of the Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee, the purpose of these semiannual joint meetings is to encourage discussion and analyses of topics in the nonprofit field among the members of both committees.
Both chairs report that their committee members find the sessions to be informative and helpful. Preceding the recent one-hour CPE program was a networking session for committee members.
"Providing opportunities for members to meet other CPAs with common interests helps build professional, supportive relationships," Arrigo said. "Giving members the opportunity to build their own professional network is what committee service is all about." *
