CPA Spotlight- George M. Kuzma

Member Helps Ukrainian Children with Heart Defects

George M. Kuzma founded Ukrainian Gift of Life, a not-for-profit organization that helps identify children with congenital heart defects in the Ukraine that need, but cannot afford, surgery. Kuzma raises funds to transport the children to America. He developed a network of volunteers to provide translation services and logistical support for the child and a parent. Doctors at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, N.Y., perform the operations for a small stipend. The organization has helped save 24 children between the ages of 15 months and 13 years in the past two years.

Kuzma is an active NYSSCPA member and currently chairs the Cooperation with Bankers and Other Credit Grantors Committee. He is managing director of GMK Associates. *
