NYSSCPA.org Offers Enron News and Information Updates

By Craig Mandelbaum

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ website at www.nysscpa.org is offering up-to-the-minute breaking news and information on the Enron bankruptcy and its aftermath.By going to the new Enron Center—located on the right-hand side of the home page, just below the events calendar—visitors can access the latest stories about the former energy giant’s collapse, as well as all accounting issues involved with the debacle.

Additionally, users can access the Society’s Briefing Book on Enron at www.nysscpa.org/enron/main1.htm. The book offers a thorough recap of all the Enron-related events, as well as new legislation proposed and passed in the wake of the bankruptcy, a synopsis of the Society’s testimony before the New York State Senate, and much more.

All information in the briefing book is constantly updated. Users who return often will not only find the latest stories on Enron, but also will learn about the newest U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings, the most recent American Institute of Certified Public Accountants statements, and the General Accounting Office’s auditor independence rulings.

Users can give their own feedback on the issues in the Society’s message boards.
