Events Calendar and Tax Forms Now on Society Website

By Angela McGregor

The NYSSCPA's website, www.nysscpa.org, continues to evolve as helpful resources are added to make "surfing" a more productive and useful experience for the thousands of visitors (both members and nonmembers) the site receives each month. Recent additions include an online calendar of events and downloadable federal tax forms.

By clicking on the Calendar of Events icon on the home page, located beneath the Find It Fast menu, visitors can access a page-sized calendar listing all Foundation for Accounting Education CPE conferences and courses scheduled for the current month and the times they occur. Each listing links to a full description including location, price, and when to register. This quick summary of CPE events is in addition to the detailed information available in FAE's own section.

The calendar also features upcoming committee meetings and other Society activities. The committee listings include a link to each group's forum which is an NYSSCPA member-only, password-protected section.

Get Tax Forms Fast

Another new feature to the website is direct access to 1998 federal tax forms. Visitors to www.nysscpa.org no longer have to endure the "world wide wait" to download forms from the IRS's site (www.irs.gov), which at tax time can be frustratingly slow due to high traffic. By clicking on Tax Forms, listed under Member Services in the Find It Fast menu, users have access to a scrollable list of federal forms, all in Adobe PDF format for quick downloading. The Tax Forms page also includes links to New York City and state forms, as well as downloadable IRS publications. In addition, see Useful Links in the Find It Fast menu for direct links to other states' departments of taxation sites.

Details on May Show

Members and other users who want to participate in the 1999 CPAs' Finance, Business & Technology Show & Conference, which will take place May 25-27 in New York City, can click on the banner at the top of the NYSSCPA home page to find a map of the exhibit hall at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center that highlights available booths; a full list of exhibitors; NYSSCPA staff contacts; and other information on the show.

The Society thanks all those who took the time and effort to fill out the website survey in the December issue of The Trusted Professional. For members who did not get a chance to voice their opinions, the survey is still available online. Just click on the link at the bottom of the home page of www.nysscpa.org. *

Visitors to www.nysscpa.org no longer have to endure the "world wide wait" to download forms from the IRS's site.
