January 1999 Issue Daniel J. Dustin Appointed Executive Secretary of State Board On December 11, the New York State Board of Regents appointed Daniel J. Dustin, CPA, as executive secretary of the New York State Board of Public Accountancy, which advises the Regents and the State Education Department on licensure, practice, and professional conduct issues concerning CPAs. In addition to working with the public accounting board, Dustin also serves as executive secretary for the State Board of Certified Shorthand Reporting. "I am very pleased that Dan Dustin has joined the Office of the Professions team," Deputy Commissioner for the Professions Johanna Duncan-Poitier said. "He has the management experience and leadership skills necessary to guide these state boards through the major issues facing their respective professions, with an emphasis on public protection. In addition, he brings a solid understanding of government and industry operations." Previously, Dustin was internal control officer and chief accountant in the New York State Attorney General's Office. His background also includes experience in nonprofit organizations, school districts, credit unions, securities brokers and dealers, manufacturers, and contractors. Dustin is president of the upstate New York chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors and serves on the board of directors of North Colonie Youth Baseball. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Clarkson University, and resides in Latham, N.Y., with his wife and two sons. * |
