The NYSSCPA offers members a wide range of helpful services--from professional and technical resources to business and personal products. Below is a list of key membership services, discount programs, and contact information:
* Airborne Express gives members discounts on overnight shipments, particularly helpful during tax season. Call (800) MEMBERS and identify yourself as an NYSSCPA member.
* Arbitration and Mediation is a free service that helps members settle their differences and avoid costly legal fees. Contact Ann Spaulding, director of ethics and
regulation, at (212) 719-8348, (800) 633-6320, or aspaulding@nysscpa.org.
* Eyecare International offers members and their families a free exam and discounts on eye care and eyewear for a $25 annual membership fee. To enroll, call (800) 354-8336 and identify yourself as an NYSSCPA member.
* FAE's Pay One Price (POP) program provides unlimited quality CPE through August 31, 1999, for as little as $795 a year. See page 21 for more information, or call (212) 719-8383 or (800) 537-3635.
* HEAT USA saves members up to $300 on their winter fuel bills. The oil fuel cooperative, which costs $25 for an annual enrollment, is available in Dutchess, Nassau, Putnam, Suffolk, and Westchester counties, and New York City. Call 888-HEAT-USA (432-8872).
* Insurance programs--from long-term care and disability to auto insurance to business office packages to employment practices liability and more--help protect members and their families and businesses at affordable rates. * MBNA Platinum and Gold MasterCards offer such features as no annual fee and 5.9% APR on the first six months for purchases and transfers of other credit card balances. To apply, call (800) 847-7378 and mention the Society's group code, IRBA.
* Rental car discounts with special weekly rates and free upgrades are available from Avis, Alamo, Enterprise and National Car Rental. * Resume-Link, a confidential resume service, gives members the opportunity to post a resume at no cost for six months. The companion Resume-Match service offers firms seeking job candidates a discount on competitive rates. To register online, see Resume-Link on the member services list in the membership section of the Society's website, www.nysscpa.org.
* Republic Discount Brokerage Service provides members discount commission rates on various investment instruments. Call (800) REPUBLIC, select option 6, and identify yourself as a Society member.
* Transmedia Restaurant Card cuts the cost of dining out by 20 percent, plus waives the fee for the first six months for new cardholders. Call the Society at (212) 719-8392 for an application or request it via e-mail at sforbes@nysscpa.org.
* Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom Club Card gives discounts on hotel accommodations and admission fees and at the Disney Store. See page 16 for more information, or contact the member services department at (212) 719-8392, (800) 633-6320, ext. 392, or sforbes@nysscpa.org.
* www.nysscpa.org, the Society's redesigned website, meets members' online needs including access to late-breaking professional news, downloadable tax forms, online technical advice, and more. Visit www.nysscpa.org, and be sure to register your e-mail address to help the Society communicate professional news more quickly and efficiently to members.
* Zero-cost technical consulting services offer members advice on professional and technical issues, and ethics and regulation inquiries.
