NEW
YORK, NY, May 8, 2001 - At the Annual Election and Dinner Meeting
of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants
(NYSSCPA) held today at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City,
Nancy Newman-Limata, CPA of Ridgefield, Connecticut, a partner
in the National Risk & Quality function of PricewaterhouseCoopers
LLP, was elected President for 2001-2002. As Risk Management and
Assurance Policy Partner, her responsibilities include consultation
on general risk management issues as well as auditing and reporting
issues. She is additionally designated as a firm specialist for
prospective financial information and previously served as an
Independence Partner for PwC.
Ms.
Newman-Limata started her public accounting career with Deloitte
& Touche LLP with client service responsibilities focused exclusively
on clients in the banking and insurance industries. She also worked
at the Equitable Life Assurance Society and the Chase Manhattan
Bank before returning to work in Deloitte & Touche's National
Office.
She
is a council member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and has been an editorial advisor to their publication,
Journal of Accountancy.
Newman-Limata
has been a member of the NYSSCPA since 1984 and has served as
President-Elect, Vice President of the Board of Directors, Chair
of the Chapter Relations Committee, and as a member of the Executive
Committee and Finance Committees, and the Foundation of Accounting
Education's Board of Trustees. Her prior NYSSCPA committee service
has included chair of Cooperation with Financial Media, Financing
and Leasing Companies, and Advancement of Women in the Accounting
Profession Committees. She has been a member of the Banking, Annual
Conference, Auditing Standards and Procedures, and Membership
Task Force Committees, as well as the General Committee on Accounting
and Auditing, General Committee on Public Relations, and Advisory
Committee on Appointments.

Ms. Newman-Limata received her Bachelor of Arts degree in French
from Connecticut College, her Master of Arts degree in English
from the University of Washington, and a Master of Business Administration
from New York University. She was the first recipient of the William
Purcell Bickett scholarship at NYU.
She has served as the Treasurer and a Board member for the Girl
Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut. Nancy has two daughters,
Laura. a freshman at Lehigh University and Christina, a senior
in Ridgefield High School., who will be attending San Francisco
Art Institute in the fall.
