NEW YORK, May 2, 2006 – The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) will present Alex Ampadu, CPA an Assistant Professor for the State University of New York, Buffalo with its Dr. Emmanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award at the Society’s 109th Annual Election Meeting and Dinner at the Marriott Marquis in New York City on May 18th. The Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award highlights outstanding service and professional development in accounting education.

“Over many years I continue to observe his strong commitment and dedication in the academia community to the advancement of higher education,” said Debbie A. Cutler, CPA, a member of the Society’s Board of Directors who nominated him for the award. “I have observed him interact with students at many social events and have heard only glowing praise from the University of Buffalo students about his teaching abilities and dedication to helping students achieve their goals.”

Ampadu, who joined the Society in 1981, currently serves on the Promoting CPA Careers committee, the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) Buffalo Advisory Board and the Society’s Foundation for Accounting Education’s Campus Ambassador Committee, which promote the benefits of the Society including its scholarships and membership.
