NEW
YORK, NY, MAY 18, 2006 -- The New York State Society of
Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) installed David A. Lifson,
CPA of New York City as President-Elect at its 109th Annual Election
Meeting and Dinner held today at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Lifson is a partner with Hays & Company LLP and has significant
involvement with tax planning and management/business advisory services
for various small and medium sized businesses and high net worth/upper
income individuals.
A member since
1975, Lifson has served as Vice President of the NYSSCPA Board of
Directors and as a member of its Executive Committee. He has chaired
its Task Force on Practical Reform of the Tax System and its Finance
and Real Estate committees. He has also served as a member of its
Tax Division Oversight, Taxation of Financial Instruments and Transactions,
Taxation of Individuals, Real Estate and Firm Coordinators committees
and as a member of its Professional Standards, Alternative Tax System
and CPA2 Biz task forces.
Lifson chaired
the Society’s Task Force on Practical Reform of the Tax System
that issued the SET (Simple Exact Transparent) Tax Proposal, a position
paper published as a guide for our political leaders and others
interested in practical issues raised by fundamental tax reform.
He has also
chaired the Tax Executive Committee for the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants and was a member of its Board of Directors.
He is a nationally
known lecturer and panelist on tax subjects and has published articles
in The CPA Journal, The Tax Advisor and the Journal
of Accountancy.
