NEW
YORK, NEW YORK, April 6, 2006 -- The New York State Society
of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) will present Victor S.
Rich, CPA of Old Westbury with its Distinguished Service Award on
Thursday, May 18th at the Society’s 109th Annual Election
Meeting and Dinner at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. This
award recognizes CPAs who have distinguished themselves as in community,
charitable or civic activities on an ongoing basis.
Victor S. Rich joined the Society in 1966. He has
served as the Society’s Vice President (twice) and as a member
of the Board of Directors. He has chaired the Large and Medium Sized
Firms Practice Management, Furtherance, Public Relations, Management
of An Accounting Practice, Member Relations, Continuity of Practice
and Local Practitioners committees. He has also served on the Board
of Trustees of the Society’s Foundation for Accounting Education
for two terms and has been in their faculty bank of lecturers.
He has represented New York State on the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Governing Council,
the body that determines Institute programs and policies with representatives
from every state and U.S. territory. He has also served on several
AICPA committees.
Rich has also been a member of the Accountants Club
of America Board of Governors, has served as its Treasurer and is
currently serving as incoming Vice President, as well as for the
Accountants Forum, Inc., a national group of accountants and CPAs
administered by the Society.
His other associations and affiliations are highly
diverse. He has been active in Irvington, New York’s municipal
government as an appointed unpaid employee for 18 years. For eight
years he was a member of the Irvington Environmental Conservation
Board, including five years as Chairman. He also served as a member
of the Irvington Planning Council for 10 years.
Rich has held and continues to hold numerous positions
with the Dartmouth College Alumni Association. He has held an unprecented
four separate 3 year terms on the Dartmouth Alumni Council which
serves as an advisory group to the College’s Board of Trustees.
He was a member of the Executive Committee of the UJA/Federation
Accounting Division for several years. He has also been active in
the management of the Hudson House Cooperative Corporation having
served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and a member of the
Board of Directors for one of the most prestigious residential cooperatives
in Westchester County.

and to the general public via his community, charitable and civic
activities over a period of 40 plus years.”
