School District Accountability Legislation

  • Senate Bill S00890: (Marcellino) Relates to the fiscal accountability of school districts, BOCES and charter schools.

  • Senate Bill S00909: (LaValle) Establishes a school inspector general for school districts in counties with a population of one million or more outside of the city of New York.

  • Senate Bill S02001: (Balboni) Requires all first-term members of boards of education to attend training sessions within six months of taking office.

  • Senate Bill S02788: (Flanagan) Deems an employee of a school district or board of cooperative educational services an officer for the purpose of vacating of position upon commission of certain crimes.

  • Assembly Bill A01987: (Conte) Relates to school district oversight and financial responsibility; authorizes school districts and boards of trustees to establish the office of auditor; establishes the office of financial oversight and accountability; protects employees who report to the office of financial oversight and accountability; expands the definition of local officer or employee to include a superintendent, district superintendent or school business official for the purposes of disclosure.

  • Assembly Bill A02827 (DiNapoli) / Senate Bill S02969 (Balboni): Authorizes the comptroller to examine the accounts of officers of school districts at least once within each three year period; requires municipal officers or employees whose spouse has an interest in a agreement with the municipality such officer or employee is an officer or employee of, to disclose such interest; authorizes the court to impose a civil penalty against a person found guilty of theft from a school district in an amount equal to the amount the court finds the district is owed in restitution.

  • Assembly Bill A02832: (DiNapoli) Establishes a school inspector general for school districts outside of the city of New York.

  • Assembly Bill A05088: (Conte) Deems an employee of a school district or board of cooperative educational services an officer for the purpose of vacating of position upon commission of certain crimes.

  • Assembly Bill A05164 (DiNapoli) / Senate Bill S02943 (Balboni): Requires financial disclosure by a superintendent of schools or a district superintendent and his or her deputies or assistants, as well as such persons who have certain powers on behalf of school districts; includes a copy of the disclosure form that must be filed.

  • Assembly Bill A06082: (DiNapoli) Relates to accountability of school districts.

  • Senate Bill S05050: (Saland) Relates to accountability of school districts.
  • Assembly Bill A06761: (DiNapoli) Authorizes the comptroller to conduct audits of every school district, BOCES, and charter school; appropriation.
