NYSSCPA.org has adopted information management
guidelines that define our customer and advertiser relationships.
These guidelines disclose the privacy policies for NYSSCPA.org
news, information, classified advertising and Web site directories.
This privacy policy applies only to information obtained and
exchanged via the NYSSCPA.org Web sites.
Changes
to this Privacy Statement
Since Internet technologies are rapidly evolving,
underlying business models are evolving. Accordingly, guidelines
may change. Any changes will be posted here.

NYSSCPA.org is not responsible for the content
or the privacy policies of Web sites to which it may link.
This policy applies solely to information collected by NYSSCPA.org.
What
information does NYSSCPA.org gather and/or track about you?
NYSSCPA.org may require that you provide personal
information to access some portions of this site, including
your full name, e-mail address, contact information, and your
NYSSCPA member identification number. NYSSCPA.org users must
also agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use applicable to
the service for which they are accessing. In some instances,
we also collect credit card information from members.
Anonymous Information: NYSSCPA.org may also
gather anonymous information, which may be used by NYSSCPA.org
or shared with third parties. This information does not personally
identify you but may be helpful for improving the services
we offer. Generally this information is collected through
"traffic data" and may entail the use of "cookies,"
"IP addresses," or other numeric codes used to identify
a computer.
Cookies: "Cookies" give users a
special, random ID that are small text files, which are stored
on the hard drive of a user's computer. NYSSCPA.org employs
cookies to recognize you and your access privileges for certain
locations on the NYSSCPA.org sites, such as the Member Center,
as well as to track site usage. Subscribers who do not accept
cookies from the NYSSCPA.org site may not be able to access
some areas of NYSSCPA.org's Web site. We may also supply the
text and images developed by a third party as part of display
advertisements (“ads”) on our site. Some of these
ads may contain cookies that are set by third parties (i.e.,
advertising agencies or advertising clients). We do not have
access to these cookies or any information that they may contain.
IP Addresses: NYSSCPA.org also logs IP addresses
for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. (Your
IP address indicates the location of your computer on the
Internet.) We do not link IP addresses to anything personally
identifiable.
Credit Card Information: If you use a credit
card to pay for a NYSSCPA.org subscription, we may retain
your credit card information in order to process your payment(s)
or renew your account in the event you elect to renew your
membership.
What
does NYSSCPA.org do with the information it gathers and/or
tracks?
Statistical Analysis and Banner Advertising:
NYSSCPA.org may perform statistical analyses of user behavior
in order to measure interest in the various areas of our site
(for product development purposes) and to inform advertisers
as to how many consumers have seen or "clicked"
their advertising banners. NYSSCPA.org may also uses demographic
information to allow advertising banners on our Web site to
be targeted to the readers for whom they are most pertinent.
This means that readers may see advertising that is most likely
to interest them, and advertisers send their messages to people
who are most likely to be receptive, improving both the user's
experience and the effectiveness of the ads. In this statistical
analyses and banner advertisement targeting, we will disclose
information to third parties only in aggregate form.
Data Security: To prevent unauthorized access,
maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of
information, we have implemented appropriate physical, electronic,
and managerial procedures to protect the information we collect
online, including SSL security for credit card submissions.

Account Maintenance: NYSSCPA.org may utilize
the contact information you provided at registration, such
as your telephone number and e-mail address, to contact you
regarding account status, changes to the subscriber agreement,
and to confirm registration.
Service Updates and Promotions: Using the
contact information and e-mail addresses provided at registration,
NYSSCPA.org periodically sends promotional messages to its
users about services offered by NYSSCPA.org, its parent organization
The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants,
and its affiliated groups including NYSSCPA Chapters and the
Foundation for Accounting Education (“FAE”) and
services and notifies users of new features or changes that
may be made to these services. If you prefer not to receive
promotional e-mails about NYSSCPA.org or NYSSCPA, chapter
or FAE products and services, please see the "Opting
Out" provision below.
With
whom does NYSSCPA.org share the information it gathers and/or
tracks?
NYSSCPA.org may share the information it gathers
in a compiled format with advertisers and other partners.
Personal information about you as an individual subscriber
or registrant will not be shared with third parties, except
as follows:
Compliance with Law: NYSSCPA.org may release
information if it is required to do so by law or in the good-faith
belief that such action is necessary to: (1) comply with the
law or comply with legal process served on NYSSCPA.org; and
(2) protect and defend the legitimate business interests,
rights or property of NYSSCPA.org, it's users, advertisers,
customers, sponsors, advertisers or affiliates.
Vendors: NYSSCPA.org may on occasion use third-party
vendors to assist it in performing its business functions,
such as mailing statements to subscribers, editing user lists,
processing data and payments, and providing customer service.
Personal information may be shared with these businesses or
individuals to allow them to do perform their assigned functions,
but is limited to that information needed to perform the assigned
function, and may not be used for any other purpose.
Organizational Changes: Should NYSSCPA.org
undergo a sale, merger, consolidation, change in control,
transfer of substantial assets, reorganization or liquidation,
NYSSCPA.org's accumulated customer information may be treated
as an asset and, like other business assets, be subject to
transfer to or acquisition by a third party.
Promotional Offers: Occasionally, NYSSCPA.org
shares data collected about subscribers with third parties
whose products or services we feel may be of interest to you.
Many of our subscribers find these mail or e-mail promotions
valuable, whether they are shopping for accounting-related
goods, taking advantage of a special offer, or purchasing

Customer Requests for Personal Information:
Upon your written request, NYSSCPA.org will provide you with
its record of the personal information you gave us at registration.
For security reasons, this information will only be sent to
the mailing or e-mail address on file for the subscriber ID
associated with it.
Letters and Correspondence: If you send NYSSCPA.org
personal correspondence, such as e-mails or letters, or if
other users or third parties send correspondence to NYSSCPA.org
about your activities or postings on a NYSSCPA.org Web site,
NYSSCPA.org may collect such information into a file specific
to you. For more information, please review our Terms and

Us form. All submissions become property of NYSSCPA.org.
NYSSCPA.org Partner Products & Services:
While visiting NYSSCPA.org, you may decide to open up an account
with NYSSCPA.org's partners, like CareerBank.com, or to purchase
a product or service through one of our other provider partners.
Some of these partners are featured on http://www.NYSSCPA.org
and you may find others throughout the site. In these cases,
even if it appears that you are still on a NYSSCPA.org branded
site, you may may actually leave the NYSSCPA.org site and
be redirected to a site controlled by a third party. Once
you access an individual document that links you to another
website, you are subject to the privacy policy of the website
containing that document. NYSSCPA.org cannot make guarantees
or warranties as to the nature of a third party's use of your
personal information.
NYSSCPA.org is owned and operated by NYSSCPA
and is an affiliated with The CPA Journal magazine and The
Trusted Professional newspaper. These publications share NYSSCPA.org's
privacy policy only for content provided on the NYSSCPA.org
website. Any information you may supply directly to NYSSCPA
or its individual publications, such as for a subscription,
is subject to that entity’s privacy policy.
A
Special Note About Children & Non-U.S. Users
NYSSCPA.org does not provide services for
children, and children are not eligible to use NYSSCPA.org's
premium or paid-for services. We ask that minors not submit
any personal information to us. If you are a minor, you should
use this service in conjunction with a parent or guardian.
All users, including those users who access
NYSSCPA.org from a country other than the U.S., agree that
the laws of the State of New York shall govern any dispute,
include those arising from NYSSCPA.org's use of personal information
or otherwise relating to privacy, as specified in the Terms
of Use.
Opting-Out,
Corrections and Cancellations
If you are already a registered user with
NYSSCPA.org, you may manage your promotional e-mail preferences
by “opting-out” of further marketing or promotional
e-mail contact (excepting notification of important member
information or major changes to service) directly by contacting
NYSSCPA.org at (800) NYSSCPA.
Upon written
request, NYSSCPA.org will (a) remove you and your personal
information from our database, (b) correct personal information
that you state is erroneous, or (c) manage your promotional
