Sizzling Summer

By Bob Sypolt, Queens Chapter President

For those of you who know me, you will remember that I did grow up in and lived in Washington, D.C., for a little over 30 years. Well, let me just say that this summer in New York has not disappointed me in the least!

Our SBA Lending Programs Seminar, in July, as hosted by the Bank of New York, was well received by our attendees, in spite of the swelter.

For those of you who could not attend the seminar, I actually pity you, as your competition is now well armed with a wealth of information and out there just waiting to steal all of your small business clients away from you! Ha!

September’s seminar should be a fascinating one. David Henion, of the Society’s Board of Directors, will be treating our chapter to a seminar on fee-based investment advisory services. As you are aware, adding these services to your already existing practice may be not only a lucrative proposition, but may well also assist you in building and maintaining the client base you already have.

Dave, as managing partner of Forté Capital, will be presenting a technical seminar, structured to improve your understanding of every element of investment advisory services. Most important, he will show you how to analyze your own opportunities in this fascinating practice area (please see our ad below for details). The seminar will be held on Sept. 22 at St. John’s University, Bent Hall, Room 277B.

October’s seminar will be our annual ethics seminar. As you are aware, attendance is required if you are planning on practicing public accounting in the state of New York. October’s seminar will be combined with our annual Town Hall Meeting featuring our State Society’s general officers. Plan to be updated on all of the current issues that are so vital to practicing in New York state. The seminar will be held on Oct. 18 at St. John’s University, Bent Hall, Room 277B.

See you all there!
