Exciting Events on Tap By Michael Garibaldi, Nassau Chapter President It seems as if we blinked, and they were gone. The sultry, lazy days of August have given way to September, bringing with it the promise of cool, crisp fall days. Yes, the summer is over. We’ve relaxed, and taken our vacations; the kids are back in school, and everyone is getting back into high gear. The Nassau Chapter is no different, as we have two exciting events on tap for September. We recently kicked off plans for CPAs 4: (a) Cause 5K Run/Walk, which will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, at 5:30 p.m. at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, N.Y. New York Islanders legend and four-time Stanley Cup champion Bob Nystrom will be the honorary starter. Proceeds from the event will benefit Island Harvest, Long Island’s Source Authority on Food Rescue, in its mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. In addition to food and refreshments being served, all who participate will be entered into a drawing for a variety of raffle prizes. Trophies and awards will also be given out, and the top three overall male and female participants, as well as to the top three finishers in each age category, will be recognized. All children under the age of 13 will be presented with a ribbon for their participation. Registration is $20 after Sept. 1. Preregistration begins at 4:30 p.m., with the race beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Parking Field #1 in Eisenhower Park. The chapter meeting will be held later in the month, on Sept. 28, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Westbury Manor in Westbury, N.Y. This is a joint meeting between our chapter and the Nassau County Bar Association, always a very well attended event. The meeting is coordinated by our Attorneys and Accountants Joint Committee.
