Facing Challenges

By Judy Seidman, Manhattan/Bronx Chapter President

Once again, it’s time to say good-bye to the “lazy, hazy, crazy days” of summer. I hope that you took some time to relax and get away during this carefree time of year.

To help you with the transition into the autumn season, here is a peek at what we have coming up in the next couple of months:
September 20: Annual Officers’ Town Hall Meeting, where you will have a chance to interact with the leadership of the Society. The event will also include a 2-credit ethics program. Much thanks to the Bank of New York for hosting this event at their beautiful facilities in lower Manhattan.

October 20: CPE program with the Brooklyn Chapter, generously hosted by Hudson Valley Bank. Topics include the state of the economy, investing, and some basic estate planning issues.

October 27: A night of billiards and networking, generously hosted by UBS.

Stay tuned for upcoming seminars on networking techniques and an informative session relating to technology, as well as additional social and networking events.

The Manhattan/Bronx Chapter’s Cooperation with Bankers and Other Credit Grantors Committee held another successful golf outing on July 18 at the beautiful Elmwood Country Club in White Plains. There were more than 90 golfers who participated. Many thanks to Adam Reiss, Anthony Bracco and the entire committee for a job well done.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Society’s annual leadership conference in July at the Sagamore in Lake George. Peter Frank, president-elect of the chapter, was there as well. I came away with quite a bit of insight into the current state of our profession and the challenges facing us now and in the future.

Speaking of challenges, your chapter is constantly facing the challenge of planning events that are of interest to all our members and receiving feedback about those events. We are here for you. If you would like to make a suggestion for an event, or if you would like to participate in the planning or execution of an event, feel free to contact me or any board member. We would love to hear from you. You can find our contact info on the chapter’s Web page, as well as details for upcoming events.
Until next time.
