Message From the President

By Timothy N. O’Connor, Northeast Chapter President

Our chapter is currently in the process of planning for the continuation and promulgation of the combined efforts of our immediate past President Beth van Bladel, our Executive Committee and our Executive Board’s emphasis on leadership. Our previously stated and specific goals were to communicate, educate and advocate for our membership. I see no reason to change that focus.

We are striving to ensure these goals through the dedication and recruitment of board and committee members. We hope to accomplish these goals through diversity and consistency within our organizational structure. Our board and committees are establishing and documenting their objectives in conjunction with the rollout of a plan to achieve their goals.

During my term as president, I will attempt to continue to evaluate the needs of our profession, our membership and our community, with the able assistance of our very dedicated Executive Board and committees. In contemplating those needs, we will direct our efforts.

We have set busy agendas to maximize our contribution to our stakeholders. We will continue our efforts to reach our Northeast Chapter members, local media, students and educators, firm managing partners, government officials, state legislators and others that rely upon our profession in some manner.

We will attempt to emulate the structure, commitment and energy of our counterparts throughout the state and especially those people dedicated to our collective mission in New York City under the leadership of Lou Grumet, Society executive director, and all the fine people assisting us in our mission.
