Jumping Ahead

By Robert A. Sypolt, Queens Chapter President

Our Queens Chapter organizational meeting was held in late June at the offices of Ed Torres, here in Forest Hills. Ed has always been gracious in lending us his office facilities, and we certainly thank him for them!

Victor Rich, Society Vice President, gave us some inspiring words regarding developing leadership within the chapter. We all agreed that this should be a top priority for any chapter, let alone one that is only in its fifth year. We have really been blessed with quality leadership on our board over the last five years, and I personally am looking forward to an outstanding year this year as well. Thanks to all of you board members in advance!

We then jumped right into our chapter goals for the year.

These include:

  •  Continuing to develop and provide affordable, quality, CPE programs to our chapter members.
  •  Developing a strong working relationship with the Queens Chamber of Commerce.
  •  Developing meaningful chapter programs to assist our over 400 student members.
  •  Developing a Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) program for the benefit of our sole-practitioner members, of which we have many.

Please look forward to exciting developments in these areas in the upcoming months.

Our first CPE program, Advanced Estate Planning, hosted by Merrill Lynch, was a smashing success. The room, so graciously provided by St. Johns University, was filled to capacity. Rich Perry, of the Forest Hills office of Merrill, was a wonderful host. The speaker evaluations were excellent, and everyone seemed to really enjoy the evening.

Look forward to future CPE programs being offered by the chapter. If you have an area of particular interest you would like the chapter to consider, please feel free to contact me.
