Message From the President

By Glenn E. Albin, Rockland Chapter President

First, I would like to congratulate Phyllis Graybow on a very successful year as president. I hope that this year can be as successful. We have some exciting events planned, and I hope we can give you a reason to be involved in your local chapter. I urge you to speak to your fellow professionals and get involved.

As you are all aware, changes in the accounting profession have been ongoing for the past several years. Albany is about to enact its changes on how we practice public accountancy. The NYSSCPA is at the forefront of helping shape this legislation. There is no better way that you can be informed and express your views than through your local chapter.

The young CPA Forum is at the end of this month. I would like to thank past president Steve Kaplan and Janet Toborg for all their efforts this past year putting together the forum. If you have not registered, come and join us for an exciting conference. There is a stand-alone ethics course for us not-so-young CPAs. There is a registration form available online at www.nysscpa.org/chapters.html.

This year I would like to see us continue with some of what we have done in the past, but would also like to add some social events.

Check out the schedule we’ve come up with (at right) and let me know what you think. We’re still nailing down details, so read The Trusted Professional and check our website regularly for updates and all the latest information.
