Networking Function Brings Westchester Professionals Together Seaside Johnny’s in Rye, N.Y., was buzzing with the excitement of more than 200 professionals on June 9 for the Westchester Chapter Networking event. “We got a good amount of new faces, and the feedback was that it was a really good group of people,” said Matt Kuchinsky, chair of the Westchester Young CPAs Committee and one of the organizers of the event. The Alliance Committee, who organized the event, is made up of insurance professionals, financial planning professionals, attorneys and others. “What we essentially did is form this group to organize this event and marketed it to our respective peer groups there,” Kuchinsky said. Frank Kovolic, who serves on the Alliance Committee and also organized the event, said that having professionals come together was beneficial. “That’s what it’s all about, the involvement,” he said. “Everybody has something to bring to the table, so to speak, and we take these networking ideas and we take them a step in the right direction.” Linda Rey, who serves with Kolovic as cochair of the Events Committee from the Westchester Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, termed the event a “huge success.” “There are so many networking functions and it’s nice to be involved in something different; to meet different people to continue to explore business opportunities,” she said. “Without networking, we wouldn’t meet people, and without meeting people, we wouldn’t be able to have these types of events.” Robert Klein, who served as immediate past president of the White Plains Area Junior Chamber of Commerce and helped market the event, said the event “helped open doors.” “We were all drawn to the idea of having a mega event to network with professionals in other fields—legal, investment, small business, etc.,” Klein said. The committee is already carrying on with plans for the future, Kovolic said. “I think, together, we will continue to coordinate events and encourage other people,” he said. “This is how I’ve always felt that we can benefit.” Adcom Corp., Docuserve, Rey Insurance Agency, McCarthy Fingar, HSBC and Smith Barney Citigroup all sponsored the event. Those who responded in advance received two drinks and unlimited food for $15. “We had clams and chicken and wings and some upscale stuff too,” Kuchinsky said. Another networking event is in the works for later this year, Kuchinsky said, which will likely be a wine tasting. Largely, the atmosphere was one of great cuisine and camaraderie, Kuchinsky said. “It was a really great event,” said Kuchinsky. “Hopefully the next one will be just as fun.” |
