Message From the President

I am excited to start my term as president of the Nassau Chapter. I have been actively involved in the NYSS-CPA for over 10 years and have some ambitious goals for the coming year. Thanks in advance to everyone who is assisting with accomplishing these goals.

We still face challenges in our profession and we must rise above them. We can all do our best to support the NYSSCPA and all of its functions. We need to learn and be the best CPAs we can possibly be.

We need to start by educating students about the profession. We are expanding the mentor program that we started last year. If anyone is interested in being a mentor, please contact Gail Linder at 631-462-1213.

We must increase our membership. I urged the board to form a membership committee, which is headed by Lisa Haynie (516-488-1200) and Ellen Gordon (516-747-2000, ext. 303). Please contact them if you are interested in assisting with this initiative.

A task force has been created to bring programs to young CPAs and others so they can learn about useful topics not normally covered by CPE programs. Call Karen Tenenbaum (631-465-5000) if you are interested in this program.

Our golf outing on June 24, sponsored by our Cooperation with Bankers and Other Credit Grantors Committee, was a huge success, as always. It is nice getting together in a relaxed atmosphere which involves some networking. Thanks go to Dan Castellano and Carol Pinto for organizing it.

Our Young CPAs committee is planning a cruise for the end of August. Stay tuned for more details in the August issue.

I would like to thank outgoing president Rich Zerah for a fantastic past year. I hope I can continue with many of his initiatives.
We also have some exciting events coming up in the fall. Please look for them, and participate in as many of them as possible.
