Passing the Baton

By Lauren L. Kincaid, Syracuse Chapter President

Due to the pressures of another tax season, I missed the deadline for what should’ve been my final President’s Message in May. My term will technically be over by the time this June issue is released.

On May 23, the Syracuse Chapter held its annual organizational meeting, at which time I passed the baton to the new president, Gail Kinsella, of Testone, Marshall & Discenza, LLP. Gail has been involved in the Syracuse Chapter for many years and has helped me a great deal during my tenure. Thank you, Gail, and if there is anything I can do to help the new regime, I hope they know to call on me. Even though my term as President is up, I hope to stay involved at some level with the State Society in the future.

The new board members for the upcoming 2005–2006 year are: President: Gail Kinsella; President-Elect: Rick Shaw; Vice President: Michele Dickey; Treasurer: Heather Losi, and the newest addition, Secretary: Joseph Mocciaro. Please feel free to contact any of the board members with questions or concerns in the upcoming year.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Monday, June 20. Madelyn Hornstein (who has graciously agreed to coordinate this great event again this year) has informed me that the annual CPA/Bankers Golf Outing will be held at Beaver Meadows on this date. Please look for the registration form on our Web site or in the mail coming soon. This is a very popular event and usually sells out quickly, so don’t forget to register early. If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact Madelyn at 315-234-8190 or at mhh@dbbllc.com. Also, keep an eye out for other events to be scheduled this summer.

In parting, I would like to say that this has truly been a rewarding experience for me personally and professionally. Being involved to this extent at the local level has given me a newfound respect for the commitment it takes for all of the people who are involved and make things happen at both the local and state levels. I would like to thank them all. If you don’t get involved, you don’t have a right to complain about the things that affect all of us in the profession, so my message is: Get involved—it can make a difference!

Although my term is over, please feel free to contact me anytime at 315-472-7045 or lkincaid@fmfecpa.com with any concerns and/or suggestions you might have for the chapter.
