Ways to Know You To adequately serve the needs of its members, the Society needs to know a little about your professional interests. One of the primary methods used to determine NYSSCPA members’ professional interests is 58 accounting-related continuing professional education (CPE) interest codes compiled on the Society’s main database. The 58 codes are broken into four major areas: accounting and auditing; finance and management; specialized knowledge and techniques; and taxation. Each CPE course that is sponsored by the Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) is tagged with one or more of these codes. The Society staff use the interest codes to determine which members should receive information on particular course offerings, and to help the organization develop and schedule CPE courses. The staff also uses the codes to identify members who possess expertise in areas that other members, the media, or even the state legislature, would like to know more about. Every member recently received in the mail a data update sheet that includes these CPE interest codes. The good news is that a clear majority of members have provided the Society with their CPE interest code preferences. However, close to 4,900 members have not. If you are able, please take a moment to update your data form and mail it to NYSSCPA, 3 Park Ave., 18th floor, New York, NY 10016, or fax it to 212-719-3364. Members are also encouraged to visit their personal data page, which they can access at www.nysscpa.org, under the Member Resources banner. This secure site enables all members to update existing CPE interest code preferences. Similarly, you will find a printable record of all CPE taken with the FAE. If you have any questions, please contact Member Services at 800-NYSSCPA. |
