Disciplinary Matters

Lawrence Gleit, of Dix Hills, N.Y., was automatically suspended from membership for three months under Society Bylaw Article XII.3—Impairment of License to Practice Public Accounting. Mr. Gleit’s license to practice as a certified public accountant in the state of New York was suspended for a period of 24 months, but that suspension was stayed for 21 months, resulting in a three-month suspension under terms specified in the Application for Consent Order to the New York State Board of Regents on Sept. 10, 2004. According to the Consent Order, on or about Aug. 2, 2001, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Atlanta, Atlanta Division, Mr. Gleit entered a plea of guilty to a charge of violating 26 U.S.C. Section 7203 (willfully failing to maintain and keep records as required by law).

Edward M. Buonora, of Sayville, N.Y., was automatically expelled from membership under Society Bylaw Article XII.3—Impairment of License to Practice Public Accounting. Mr. Buonora’s license to practice as a certified public accountant in the state of New York was revoked by vote of the Board of Regents on March 15, 2005, for violation of Section 6509(8) of the New York State Education Law (willfully failing to register).
