Nominees for the 2005 Michael H. Urbach, CPA, Community Builder’s
Award
Nominations Due by June 1 The 2005 Michael H. Urbach, CPA, Community Builder’s Award honors a certified public accountant in New York state who has exhibited exemplary board leadership in 501(c)3 charities. Sponsored by the Council of Community Services of New York State, Inc. (CCSNYS), and the New York State Society of CPAs, and initiated in 2004, the award is named in honor of Michael H. Urbach, the first CPA to serve as New York state tax commissioner. A former partner and executive vice president of the international CPA firm of Urbach, Kahn and Werlin, P.C., Urbach made a significant impact on New York’s nonprofit community through board participation and leadership. He regarded his involvement, especially with boards coping with financial and administrative challenges, as a unique opportunity to help enact and embrace organizational change for the betterment of the community. The first award recipient was Sherwood H. Levitan, from Middletown. Award Criteria Criteria for the award include the following:
Submission of Nominations Nominations addressing the candidate’s qualifications must be submitted in writing and received by June 1. Submitters are strongly encouraged to include letters of support from the charities that have benefited from the candidate’s volunteer leadership. Notification and Award Presentation The chosen candidate will be notified no later than July 18. The award will be presented on Oct. 5 during the evening dinner of CCSNYS’ Camp Finance 2005, to be held at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, N.Y.
