Continuing To Grow

By Barry Doll, Manhattan/Bronx Chapter President

Dear Members,

During the last month, you have elected a new slate of officers and board members for the 2006 fiscal year. My congratulations to the new board members, and my best wishes for a productive year. You will find the names of your new board members in a separate list on the Manhattan/Bronx website. Also, we are very thankful to Neil Rubin from Oppenheimer for sponsoring our first annual election reception, and to Marc Klee for his very interesting remarks on “The Business of Baseball.” It was a memorable event.

Also, members and friends of the chapter participated in the Hands on New York event on Saturday, April 16. Thanks to Margaret Hannon and all those who participated. You did make a difference.

The chapter is hosted a Career Management seminar on May 3. And on May 6, a group of optimistic members headed south to Atlantic City to apply their skills at the games.

On June 22, we are planning a scotch-tasting event sponsored by Dewar’s. I think there will be a lot of sampling at that event. See our separate notice for details.

And for you golfers who have been anxiously awaiting our annual golf outing, it will be held on July 18. This has been a very successful event filled with fun and lots of prizes. So if you can swing a club, sign up.

As you can see, the chapter continues to host and plan events. But we also need your active participation on our committees. We have Young CPA, CPA Careers, and Bankers and Other Credit Grantors committees established, and we have plans to develop more committees. So get involved, broaden your network and make new friends!

As we wind up the current year, I want to thank you for supporting the chapter’s activities. During the year, your chapter held monthly board meetings, numerous seminars and networking events and spoke at high schools (just to name a few things!). I feel very good about the chapter’s progress and confident that with your help, the chapter will continue to grow and prosper.

Best wishes, and remember, hang in there!
