Message From the President

By Arnie Haskell, Suffolk Chapter President

As busy season is now behind us and the 2003–2004 fiscal year draws to a close, I look back with fond memories on my year as president of the Suffolk Chapter. It was a fulfilling year, with many successful events and activities.

The year began with a bang as our chapter’s Young CPAs Committee sponsored a well-attended and highly successful statewide Young CPA Forum. Committee events were well-attended and provided needed CPE for our members. The annual Long Island Ducks game was its usual rousing success, with approximately 300 attendees. Our annual Toys for Tots program this year surpassed our expectations. Our banker/CPA events, including our bi-annual dinners and our highly popular golf outing, continued to be extremely successful and well attended. All in all, I believe we had a good productive year. I look forward to even greater success in the future.

I would now like to take this opportunity to thank all the chapter officers, executive board members, committee chairs, vice chairs, cochairs, GRDs and all of the other people who devoted their time and effort to making this year a success. It is through their commitment to the chapter and the Society that we can be successful in providing the services to our members that we all work toward accomplishing. I know that the chapter is in good hands next year as my friend and colleague Bob Quarte takes the reins. I wish him all the best of luck and promise him my full support. I am certain he will take the chapter to greater heights.

As you all should know, the chapter and the Society are only as successful as the people who work to make it so. I would like to take this final opportunity to ask for your support in the continuing success of the Suffolk Chapter. To accomplish our goals and remain successful or become even more successful, we need people to step forward and give of their time and effort. The committee level is the place to start, and I implore you to consider joining.

Once again, I thank you all for your support and I wish the next regime a successful 2004–2005 year.
