Refurbished Home for the Journal Online By Craig Mandelbaum, NYSSCPA.org Web Manager This month we take a look at the new CPA Journal website, www.cpajournal.com. The new site, which launched the first week in April, has a more professional look that incorporates elements of other high-profile magazine websites. The site is more graphically based than its predecessor, with large color images. It features a new navigation bar that provides direct access to all of the major sections of the magazine and includes direct links to contact the Journal staff, subscribe to the print edition, or find out how to submit an article for review, among other options. Users can navigate articles in the Journal through the current issue’s “Table of Contents” or by topics such as “Accounting and Auditing,” “Finance” and “Management”—the same structure that the redesigned January 2004 print edition introduced. This topic feature enables users to chronologically view all Journal stories, from the new launch forward, that are related to a specific topic. In addition, users can locate stories using the search engine. Each article can be opened to a printer-friendly version or be e-mailed to a colleague, too. The site also has a new media kit page, a complete masthead and an attractive blue-field containing the magazine’s logo at the top of each page. Users can also visit all CPA Journal content dating back to 1989 by accessing the “Archives” link located in the footer of the site. By the Numbers The Society’s website in March saw a record number of visits for a single month, 215,381, breaking last October’s mark of 172,627. The site recorded an 8,000-plus visit day for the first time ever in March, a month that saw nine days exceeding 8,000 visits, and recorded the highest-visit day ever on March 30, when the site registered 9,004 visits. The site
also recorded for the first time a four-million-hit month (4,208,183)
in March, which had 16 days of more than 150,000 hits. On March
29 and 30, the site recorded more than 200,000 hits, with 202,456
and 208,933 hits, respectively. Please visit the NYSSCPA website at www.nysscpa.org. |
