Heads Up for Suffolk Events

By Robert Quarte, Suffolk Chapter President

This time of year finds most of us dealing with the time constraints and pressure of year-end closings and tax season. The snow and cold weather certainly haven’t helped us deal with our busiest time of year. Nevertheless, year-end closings will occur and April 15 will come and go, and we can all look forward to becoming reacquainted with our family and friends and to the nice weather that the spring and summer seasons bring.

January was another very active month for the chapter, with several of our committees sponsoring events. The General Taxation Committee hosted the Officers Visitation on January 18. The visitation was preceded by a Tax Committee technical session on e-filing and concluded with a CPE ethics session. The Tax Committee also held its annual tax workshop, on January 27. We thank our speakers at this event, who were very well received.

The chapter has some very important events coming up in the not-too-distant future. The annual Bankers/CPA Suffolk Cup Golf Outing is set for Monday, May 2, at the Southward Ho Country Club. The Cooperation with Attorneys Committee is holding its next event on May 19 at the Irish Coffee Pub. The annual Long Island Ducks social event, sponsored by the Young CPAs Committee, is scheduled for June 24.

Best wishes for a successful and smooth remainder of the busy season, and I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming chapter events.
