Crossing the Tax Season Finish Line

By Joe Falbo, Buffalo Chapter President

It’s April 1—only a few more weeks remain until the finish line for those of us in public practice. Because of publishing deadlines, it is actually the beginning of March as I sit and write this, in the heart of busy season. I will try to be brief so you may get back to doing whatever else it is you do with your leisure time aside from reading The Trusted Professional.

On April 26, the chapter will host one of its most important events of the year: the Annual Education Night Dinner. Hundreds of students, faculty and CPAs will gather to celebrate the accomplishments of accounting students from the area’s colleges and universities. We are fortunate to have Jim Metzler as our dinner speaker this year. As many of you know, Jim is now on the staff of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He will be discussing where he and the AICPA see the profession moving in coming years. This event is a great opportunity to welcome many of Buffalo’s future CPAs to our professional community. The event will take place at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens; for more details, please see the Upcoming Events calendar.

Another annual chapter tradition is the Joint Dinner meeting with the Erie County Bar Association. This year’s dinner takes place May 9 at the Four Points Sheraton on Walden Avenue. As in past years, dinner will be preceded by a joint CPE/CLE session and cocktails. Again, see the Upcoming Events calendar and log on to www.nysscpa.org/chapters.html for registration and event details.

I wish you all a great busy season.
