Brooklyn Chapter Sponsors Tax Seminar

On Thursday, Jan. 6, the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University hosted the Fourth Annual Tax Seminar, sponsored by the Brooklyn Chapter of the NYSSCPA, the Internal Revenue Service and the Accounting Society of Long Island University. In addition to students of the Accounting Society, 120 accountants, enrolled agents and other tax preparers attended the seminar.

Professor Emeritus Philip Wolitzer moderated the seminar and Myrna L. Fischman, Professor of Accounting & Taxation and the advisor to the Accounting Society, coordinated the seminar. Ellen Murphy, the Regional Director of the IRS, participated as a presenter and answered questions.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, luncheon guest speaker, spoke on “Economic Development in Brooklyn as It Impacts the Tax Professional.”

Pat Wright, president of the Brooklyn Chapter of the NYSSCPA and an alumna of the Long Island University Brooklyn Campus, welcomed all to the seminar.

 Special thanks to students of the Accounting Society, Devon Lyons, Rosanna Garcia and Temi-Tope Akojie for their help throughout the seminar.
