Debuts Online Social Security Primer
By Craig Mandelbaum, NYSSCPA Web Manager With President Bush campaigning for major revisions to the Social Security system, and dissent already surfacing from both Democrats and Republicans in Congress, the New York State Society of CPAs is providing a special section as a primer on the topic. The new section, which can be found in the center on the NYSSCPA home page (www.nysscpa.org) or by going directly to www.nysscpa.org/social_security/main.htm, offers continuously updated Society news briefs on the topic, as well as a collection of Social Security resources and websites. Among the resources are reports, from various sources, covering all angles of the Social Security issue. The Society offers a study that summarizes reports from a number of bipartisan sources. There also are reports from the American Institute of CPAs, the Congressional Budget Office and the White House. The new Social Security site also includes links to a broad spectrum of websites, such as the Social Security Administration’s official website, the President’s Commission to Strengthen Social Security website and the United States Representatives Sub-Committee on Social Security website.
