The developing field of virtual reality entertainment has mainly focused on creating immersive visual spectacles that put the user in the middle of a horror movie or a sci-fi adventure. An all-star game design team, however, plans to bring VR users to an even more pulse-pounding setting: a public accounting firm, said PC Gamer. The project brings together studio Crows Crows Crows (of the award-winning Stanley Parable) with Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland to let users really feel what it's like to be an accountant.
The game, Get Ready for Accounting, is touted as a perfect simulation of the accounting experience. Once users slide on the VR goggles, they are transported to their cubicle at the firm Smith and Smitherson complete with computer, calendar, phone, coffee and other familiar accoutrements, where they will do actual accounting work on actual Excel spreadsheets. For users craving more, they will even be able to import their own spreadsheets into the game so they can work on them in a virtual office.
The game is expected to come out for users of VR headsets sometime in May.
