irs-small-3National Taxpayer Advocate Nina E. Olson will be in the Bronx this month to discuss what taxpayers need and want from the IRS in order to comply with their tax obligations, according to the IRS. She will be joined by Rep. Jose Serrano (D - New York), ranking member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government.

Olson also plans to talk about the service's "Future State" plan that has the creation of online taxpayer accounts as a major component. The Taxpayer Advocate, in her 2015 Annual Report to Congress, said she was concerned whether this plan adequately addresses taxpayer needs. Olson intends to use the forum to build public support and dialogue about the plan. The objective of this and other public forums to be held in the future is to ensure the plan will better reflect the needs and preference of U.S. taxpayers as they seek t comply with the tax code.

The public forum will be held Friday, March 18, at 3:00 pm in Room C391 at Hostos Community College in The Bronx, N.Y.  Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.
