While many people have metaphorically flushed money down the toilet, Swiss authorities are investigating a literal instance of the phenomena. Prosecutors are seeking more information as to why bank notes worth tens of thousands of euros have been showing up in sewage drains in and around the Geneva branch of Swiss bank UBS, according to Bloomberg. The bills first began to appear several months ago in a bathroom near a bank vault, said Bloomberg, with more bills later appearing in toilets in three nearby restaurants. The cash wound up clogging the pipes, necessitating expensive repair jobs to make the bathrooms functional again. Police have noted that many of them appeared to have been cut with scissors. While destroying cash isn't technically illegal, authorities are still investigating the matter with the belief that there surely must be something behind this incident.
