Whether you’re freaking out because you have no idea how you’ll pass the CPA exam, or doggedly trying to get through tax season, finding a way to deal with the stress is essential to success and preventing burnout. Here are some tips from Inc on how to reduce your stress:

Make rules, and follow them. It’s impossible for you to be available and at your best 24/7, so make rules for yourself to maintain separation between your work and personal life. For example, you might make a rule to always go to sleep by a certain time, or not take work-related calls or emails while out with family and friends.

Don’t multitask. You’re not wasting time by focusing on one task at a time – you’re putting your best into whatever that task is. Multitasking can lead to subpar work, and working on too many things at once can give you a sense that you’re engaged in a task of Sisyphean difficulty.

Take breaks. Make sure you take time to do things that will relax you, whether it’s meditation, a stroll around your neighborhood, or a quick power nap. The benefits of giving your brain a break are well-researched and documented, and while it might seem counter-intuitive, you’ll be more productive in the long run if you give yourself those breaks.
