Committee Action Plan
The mission of the committee is to be a resource to the membership of the Society for accounting issues affecting not-for-profit organizations. Also provide leadership in implementing and understanding new standards and interpretations through education. To serve as a liaison between the Society and industry, government and other related organizations.
The NYSSCPA Not for Profit Organizations Committee shall:
- Conduct the affairs of the committee pursuant to the direction of the Public Sector Oversight Committee.
- Maintain a member advisory, as part of the Society’s membership consulting service, by answering individually written and telephoned inquiries not requiring research.
- Prepare and review articles on subjects related to Not-for-Profit issues that may be used for publication or reference by the Society.
- Review exposure draft issued covering matters related to the Not-for-Profit accounting area and develops the proposed Society’s position on such matters for submission to the appropriate senior technical committee of the Society.
- Initiate the identification of emerging professional issues (including operational and financial) and submit comments thereon to the Board of Directors for consideration by the Society for transmittal to the relevant organization
- Develop and maintain liaison between Society and industry, government and other related organizations, which effect committee activities.
Estimated Committee service time per year 30 hours.
