| Chapter has busy schedule as year gets into full swing By Jennifer George Mid-Hudson Chapter President Our new year is off to a wonderful start! Our organizational meeting had a great turnout and I'm excited about the committee participation. Remember, it's not too late to get involved. We have many committees organizing CPE sessions and social events for our chapter. Interested in helping out? Contact me and I'll connect you with the applicable committee chair. The annual golf outing was held at the Powelton Club in Newburgh this year. The weather was great and a good time was had by all. This year's COAP (Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession) program, where young people from all over the area learn about what being an accountant is all about, was held June 26 through July 2. Students learned about networking, résumé writing, interviewing and power dining skills. They heard from accountants in various fields and took trips to different types of businesses. The committee deserves a great deal of credit for growing the program from eight students last year to over 40 this year. I hope to see everyone at our newest event, Family Field Day, which will be held Saturday, August 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery. Bring the kids for a fun day of games, including three-legged, wheelbarrow, relay and sack races as well as a water balloon toss and tug-of-war. For more information, you can contact Rebecca Hasbrouck at 845-567-9000. I'd also like to remind everyone to make sure that the Society has your correct e-mail address. In an effort to save a few trees, we will be using e-mail as the primary delivery method for event invitations and meeting notices this year. We will also be posting the minutes for all board meetings on our chapter Web site. Board meetings are open to all members, and we'd love to see you there.
