| President's Message | | Searching for Exceptional CPAs By Thomas C. Zuber Rochester Chapter President As I sit here, reflecting on the month's events, I can think only about the important decisions the board will have to make regarding our Hall of Fame nominations. We have inducted seven individuals into this community who have been involved with our chapter over the years. Past honorees include: - 2001 Ellen Williams, CPA
- 2002 Gerald P. Sokolski, CPA
- 2003 Robert P. Fox, CPA
- 2004 John F. Heveron, Jr., CPA
- 2005 Alvin Birnbaum, CPA
- 2006 Stan Konopko, CPA
- 2007 Don Chapman, CPA
- 2008 Bill Dresnick, CPA
What we'd like is for our membership to nominate individuals to be considered for induction in 2009. When nominating someone, the criteria to consider are as follows: - Be an active or retired member of the Rochester Chapter.
- Have demonstrated leadership within the accounting profession and to the Rochester Chapter of NYSSCPA.
- Have demonstrated a record of career achievement.
- Have made a contribution toward influencing the future of the Rochester Chapter and the accounting profession.
- Have demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and to maintaining a high degree or professional ethics.
Please submit your nominations to me at this address by September 15th. Kate Welc, meanwhile, will be coordinating our annual mock interview event for college students September 14 in the Mengel Metzger Barr & Co. LLP's offices located at 100 Chestnut St. in the HSBC building. Last year, we had several CPAs participate in this event offer their skills and evaluations to those participants. This event allows you to interact with students who will be entering the workforce and provide you with an opportunity to help mold their interview skills.
