President's Message

Annual Town Hall Meeting to Be Packed With Information

By Carlos Dishman
Adirondack Chapter President

Autumn in northern New York state means many things?one being the Annual Town Hall meeting for the New York State Society of CPAS.

This year, we will be having our event in Lake Placid on Thursday, Oct. 8. As always, we try to get the most bang for our buck and this year is no exception. We will be combining our town hall with an ethics seminar as well as some guidance from our local IRS liaison. I hope attendance will be strong as it normally is.

We are also in the process of organizing an A&A conference for this November, along with a tax seminar in December. I hope that by the time this is printed, arrangements will be set. Please check out the Web site for times and locations.

For those of you already in public practice, the new regulations have little to no effect on your CPE requirements, but for those of you in private practice, it is a large change. Please be aware of the new regulations and try to spread the word to those CPAs who may not know of the new requirements they bring. Encourage them to become active members in the Society and enlighten them as to the benefits of joining.

Carlos Dishman can be reached at carlosfdishman@aol.com.
