- At least fifteen to twenty committee members are needed to volunteer to assist in planning the 2006 Anti-fraud Conference. Significant marketing is necessary in order to achieve healthy registration numbers. Corporate sponsorships assist in offsetting the overhead costs related to hotel rental, food and beverage, and speaker expenses. Volunteers are needed to serve as chair and co-chairs of the conference.
- The committee discussed the ratings tabulated from the Anti-fraud Conference held at the Crowne Plaza on Monday, June 20th. Frank Abagnale earned the highest ratings and was greatly responsible for attracting a large number of attendees to the conference. Of the 287 people that registered, 206 evaluations were received and 130 people mentioned that they would attend again in the future.
- The committee held an open discussion about fraud detection and check payments. Checks should be signed in permanent ink and the signature should be reviewed carefully before sending out.
- The October committee meeting will be dedicated to planning for the annual conference. By March 2006, the brochure material must be prepared and ready for the mailing date in April.
- Committee members agreed that planning a CPE session in the future would boost attendance at the monthly meetings. Committee members mentioned that inviting a software vendor such as Document Management Systems or DT Search would be of interest.
Next Meeting The next meeting is scheduled for October 20, 2005, 4:00 p.m. at the NYSSCPA offices. The meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m. Respectfully submitted by Stephen Crane, FAE staff Minutes Approved by: David. S. Zweighaft, Committee Chair
